The terrain of mountain, foothill and, grasslands surrounding Calgary make the area a birders delight. The Rocky Mountains provide a migratory raptor highway each spring and fall. Birds like the Snow Goose, who breed much further north, Swans and Pelicans, pass in flocks, and stop to refuel on the open waters.
